Jamaica has undoubtedly had an incredible influence on American music, from Hip Hop to Punk to Pop music on radio stations all across America.  Among the islands great imports is a young Dancehall artist by the name of Jr.Sky who is currently on deck and ready for stardom. Born Shawn Anthony Balbour on November 26th, 1987 in Kingston Jamaica, Jr.Sky is not just a new face to Dancehall music; with a diverse background in music that includes influences from Heavy Metal, and artist like Pink Floyd, Nirvana and Korn, Sky is not just your typical artist. Recording and performing since the tender age of nine, Sky has been carefully developing his unique style and image, Sky also loves writing his own music and lyrics. By the time Jr.Sky was sixteen his professional career was in full motion and he began working with local legend Joe Gibbs who was a friend of his father. Further crafting his sound in the studio with Gibbs, and visiting other studios around Kingston, local artist began to take notice of Jr.Sky’s development including Jamaica’s very own Gwallas who took the young protégé under his wing. Still holding on to his long awaited dream of being known by the world, Jr.Sky has set his sails towards a wider audience in America.   Noticing the success of artist like Sean Paul, and Sean Kingston, Jr.Sky wants to set a similar path for himself and signed with Muziq Records, and independent record label out of Florida.  “Signing a record deal in the U.S, visiting American studio’s and working with new producers at Da Muziq Faktory, I’m finding myself on a different level in terms of creativity” say’s an energetic Jr.Sky who is hard at work on his debut album "SET TRENDS" with Muziq Records.
